I know it’s been… well FOREVER since I posted a review.
Truth be told, for the past half year or more, I haven’t found anything that was even worth reading through till the end, and that’s kind of sad. I got a lot of free books off of Amazon, or through other mailing services, but nothing was catching my interest.
I read Karen Lynch’s Relentless series, and after that, everything kind of paled in comparison. I think I was in reader’s depression (is that a thing? If it’s not then we should coin the term, because seriously, it exists!).
You know how when you break up with someone, then start seeing someone new right away, you just look at stuff and let out a long sigh, thinking just how good it was in the previous relationship? Well that’s kind of how I felt going through a lot of books.
I would start reading with great enthusiasm, then slowly get disappointed with the author’s writing skills, or not like the turn of events, and just leave the book altogether.
It got so bad that, even though I love Jennifer Armentrout, and bought the final book in the Dark Elements trilogy, Every Last Breath, I still can’t, ’till this day, finish the damned thing! And I love love LOVE Roth and Layla!
There is a bright side, I promise!
In my half reading ventures I came across a set that has the first three books FREE! So, I said ‘eh, why not. If I don’t like them at least I didn’t have to pay for them’. And oh my god am I glad I got them! They finally got me out of my funk!
If you’re wondering what could possibly be that powerful, then you should check out Sarra Cannon’s Shadow Demons Saga. As I said before, the first three are free!!!
I even posted a review directly on Amazon for it, since I didn’t want my enthusiasm to plunge to its death again before I got to write a review. Hoepfuly it will be on its merry way by the end of the weekend.
Until then I really am sorry it took so long to get out of my reading funk! I’m wondering if any of you have had such a ‘crisis’ until now, and if yes, what got you out of it?
