*I’m only announcing SOME spoilers here and there, so if you don’t want to see them, find another review =P*
Throughout most of the book I was extremely frustrated! (good frustrated, if that makes sense!) The action is registered through the main character’s point of view, and here and there, through Nathaniel’s p.o.v., and since Maryah erased, well, you can see how she doesn’t know anything about the world she’s supposed to be a part of. Some things were obvious for me, and I’m sure for most of the other readers, but Maryah remained blissfully ignorant [obviously, otherwise the book would have ended too quickly].
I resisted the urge to yell at my Kindle several times, while reading, remembering the characters couldn’t hear me =D *Duh!*
And one of the things I don’t get is the peacock feather obsession, but I’m guessing we’ll find out soon enough =/
For those of you who will feel bad for the ordeal Maryah goes through in the beginning (described even in the sample Amazon offers), all I’m giving away is this: she’ll be reunited with her brother and will make amends with her parents; other than that, my lips are sealed and you can stew in those words until you finish this novel =D
I love that, even though most of the books in this genre have sexual contents and what not, this book was nothing of the sorts!
For those of you action-oriented out there, you should know in advance that this novel is focusing more on the relationship between Maryah and Nathaniel, and on rebuilding the large kindrily, and less on actual death / ‘Let’s beat something to death because we can!’ scenes.
It really gave the romantic, ever-lasting love between two souls vibe and I just fell for the concepts woven together immediately!!! Also, I’m really fond of the whole big family thing, even though I know I’d be suffocated if I had that in reality…
All in all, I fully recommend it, wholeheartedly even!!! It gives you hope in true, eternal love and even gets you all hot and bothered over finding it! I know I had a few heart-squeezes and stomach-drops while enjoying this little piece. Not to mention that the ending, although building up some anticipation for the sequel, is still a happy one. *Yeeey, puppies and babies for everyone!*
If you like what I wrote until now, go and buy it, because you’ll be hooked on the series, believe me! * jumping with excitement for the sequel ^^ *
